About Me

I was born and raised in Atlanta. I'm a graduate of Morris Brown College, completed my teacher certification at Mercer University. I received my master's degree from Cambridge College. I have been employed with the DeKalb County School System for more than 25 years serving as both a homeroom teacher and currently a Discovery Teacher/Gifted Liaison and STEM Teacher.

Aside from my role as an educator, I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, traveling (my favorite city to visit is San Francisco, CA) and listening to jazz music.

My teaching philosophy

It is my responsibility as an educator, to create an atmosphere that fosters learning. I chose to become a teacher because I have a passion for guiding students through the learning process, and for the material I present in class. One of the best ways to foster learning is to demonstrate those feelings to my students. I encourage learning by creating a relaxed environment for students, stimulating conversation about concepts being presented and organizing material in a way that makes it both fun and interesting.
